Due to the Corona pandemic this date had to be changed:
24 – 25 October 2020 | Sat, 10am – Sun, 4pm
Shantideva’s most famous work, “Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life” (Skt. bodhisattvacharyavatara), is traditionally considered the preeminent text on mind training (blo spyong).
In the third and final year of our text study, we will look at the perfection of action (chapter 7) and more deeply at the perfection of wisdom (chapter 9). Shantideva’s teachings on wisdom impress with their immediacy and clarity. They contain precious practice instructions for meditating on the non-self of the person and phenomena.
The course will bring us closer to central aspects of Mahayana Buddhism and is thus aimed at people who are generally interested in the development of Great Compassion, Great Love and Enlightenment or who want to set off on the path to enlightenment in the “Great Vehicle”.
We have developed this course especially for those who have the knowledge of the BPR course (Buddhist Philosophy and Religion) or BSM course (Buddhist Science of Mind). However, participation is open to everyone! If you would like to attend these teachings and feel that you should refresh your basic Buddhist knowledge, we recommend reading the following books:
- The Way of the Bodhisattva, by Shantideva, trans.: Padmakara Translation Group
- A Flash of Lightning in the Dark of Night – A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, by H.H. Dalai Lama
