Explanations on the Heart-Sutra @ TDC-Vienna
Three times the Buddha turned the wheel of teaching. The second turn of the Dharma wheel is for featurelessness, also called emptiness: the essence of Buddhist teaching. In it, the Buddha explains the immaculate view of emptiness through the so-called Prajnaparamitra sutras (Prajnaparamita = perfection of wisdom). The best known of these sutras is the Heart Sutra, also known as the essence of Prajnaparamita. The Heart Sutra is highly valued in all traditions of Mahayana Buddhism worldwide and is carried on through frequent recitation and practice.
It would hardly be possible to fathom all Prajnaparamita sutras. Therefore the Heart Sutra – through whose practice we can realize the essence of Prajnaparamita – has this outstanding position.
Venerable Lama Geshe Tenzin Dhargye will open the deep meaning of this precious sutra to us in the form of a so-called “Lung-Tri”, a combination of oral transmission of the text and teaching.
