The advisory board of Tibet Center has an important function since one of their aims is to raise the international level of awareness and to strengthen the basis of this young institute which was founded by H.H. Dalai Lama. When meeting the members of the advisory board, His Holiness highlighted Tibet Center’s further tasks: In addition to its role as education institute, Tibet Center also needs to be active in the field of research and science. In this regard, in collaboration with experts and scientists ways and methods need to be found and highlighted, how ethnical groups and peoples can preserve, maintain and further develop their cultural identity within the modern world of information society without abandoning their own roots and values. Another important field of study will be the scientific research of the positive effects of meditation and awareness. Tibet Center seems to be predestined to take those tasks and where it could play an important role within the Western world, said His Holiness to the board members. He reminded that the preservation and transmission of the Tibetan cultural heritage would be the main task of the institute and based on that, further important tasks for humanity will be assumed.
The board members are – among others - the religious scholar Michael von Brück, journalist and media expert Heinz Nussbaumer, quantum physicist Anton Zeilinger, former mayor of the city of Graz Alfred Stingl, patron of the arts Francesca von Habsburg, the lawyers Stefan Warbek and Manfred Schiffner, management consultant Johann Hüthmair, judge Michaela Sanin and the envoy of His Holiness Mr. Kelsang Gyaltsen.
