Wisdom Quotes

"The sage do not wash away sins with water, neither do they remove sentient beings‘ suffering with their hands; nor can they transfer their own realisations to others. They liberate beings by revealing the truth of suchness."

Lord Buddha

Tibet Center – International Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies was founded following the wish of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2008. This education institute is of special concern to His Holiness, where Tibetan sciences have been preserved and transmitted in an authentic and secular way according to his instructions for over four years. So far, more than 3000 persons have visited lectures, seminars and courses and more than 100 people have completed the 2 to 3-years diploma courses. At the wish of His Holiness, Tibet Center Knappenberg/Hüttenberg increasingly has to become a place of knowledge and encounter of cultures and sciences; a place, where people meet to exchange ideas and experiences and jointly explore ways to enhance compassion, tolerance and the willingness to dialogue. His Holiness also recommended Tibet Center to promote the dialogue between Indo-Tibetan and western sciences, particularly in the fields of cosmology, neurobiology, quantum physics and psychology.

After visiting Knappenberg, His Holiness continued to Hüttenberg, where he was cordially welcomed with music and dancing by the municipality of Hüttenberg. In his address to Hüttenberg’s residents he compared the picture of the numerous people in the sunlight with flowers: “Under this clear sky, in front of the green forest, the smiling faces, the different colors of the clothes and hair seem like human flowers. Beautiful!” In addition, His Holiness remembered his deep friendship with Heinrich Harrer, Hüttenberg’s famous son who would celebrate his 100th birthday this year. “He was the first European, who acquainted me with Europe and modern technology. Harrer had been a friend of Tibet until his last breath. He continues to live in you and your friendship between Tibet and Austria”, he said.
